Family Promise

St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church serves the homeless population of the Lehigh Valley in many ways. Since 2020, St. Timothy has been one of the support/hosting churches for Family Promise. Twice a year, for a period of one week, four homeless families arrive at the church at 6 PM, have dinner, relax and have fellowship time together, watch TV or a movie, and go to bed in their own separate sleeping rooms. The next morning, they can get breakfast before leaving at 6 AM to return to the Day Center in Allentown where they have facilities to shower and wash clothes. Parents can then leave for work and children, depending on age, go to school.

To conduct these one-week hosting events requires about 40 volunteers to cover the tasks and duties associated with the weeklong event. We are always looking for volunteers to participate on the setup crew; be a dinner, evening, or overnight host; serve on the food team; or help as a member of the laundry and folding teams.
